I think the game is great as is. I particularly don’t care for rally scoring and am pretty indifferent to the other changes. What I’d like to see the JSVBA do is consider how the game is played elsewhere. If good players got together pick-up games in California, Florida or Brazil where would they draw lines in the sand? What rules did they use at the Motherload tournament? If everyone else mostly plays with the new rules I think we should adapt. If its still pretty much just AVP related I’d say we shouldn’t. Mike, I would think that you’d probably have the best feel for this.
If the JSVBA does adapt the new rules, I hope it does it consistently for all divisions. I know players of all levels love watching the top teams not only to see great action but to learn strategy and pick up tips to improve their own game. It will also help teams prepare for their step up to open. I don’t think I’d like walking back from a nice open court with great action and antennas to my, what would be, old fashion court.
No matter how you go I can’t wait to be wearing my sun glasses and serving it up.
